Hey, everyone it's Maddie and Bee and today we're going to go over the books that we want to read in 2018. We've each picked five and based on last year's success rate,we'd at least get four of these done. We also have two joint picks so we'll start with those. First we have The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily M. Dan forth. I read about fifty pages of this from my library but because it was over 500 pages long, I had to return it before I could finish. This is one of the original f/f romances, so we can't wait to get to it this summer.
And our second pick is The Sky Is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson. We've both really enjoyed I'll Give You the Sun but this book has been sat on our Kindles for far too long, and because we can't see it, we always forget about it.
But, I am preparing myself for all of the Withering Heights references because that was our least favorite book that we read at school.My first solo pick is Code Name Verity by Elizabeth We in. I read the prequel last year and I felt like I would have enjoyed it more if I had a better connection to the characters so I'm gonna start with the proper publication order.
I've been dying to read this for quite a while after finishing Michael Grant's Front Lines series and I'm hoping this'll have the same vibes.First for me is Replica and Ringer both by Lauren Oliver. These are quite chunky books but I'm hoping I can read them back-to-back. I'm wondering which girl is going to be my favorite and I'm really interested in finding more quirky reads like this that have a different format.
B: My next pick is Every Heart A Doorway by Sean an McGuire.I have this on my computer because Tor was doing a promotion where if you signed up to their newsletter, they would send you the eBook for free. I've also heard nothing but good things about this book on book tube but I am most interested to read it because it has an ace protagonist, so hopefully I'll get to doan Own Voices ace review on my thoughts on it.
M: Next I have the Night Circus by ErinMorgenstern and this is a book that I think the whole universe has read but me so I really want to jump on this bandwagon. Last year I really love dreading Cara val by Stephanie Gerber and that was compared to this book so I think I best read the original. And with Legendary coming out, then I can't wait to add more circusy reads to my TBR. B: next I have Salt to the Sea by Rita Sepetyswhich Maddie read in 2016.
I'm obviously going for a World War 2 vibe in 2018 and I didn't read it when the hype was real but it won the GoodreadsChoice Award in 2016, so I know I'm missing something. M: Speaking of prizewinners, my next pick is The Lie Tree by Francis Hardinge which won the Cookbook Prize in 2015 and this is one Bee has already read and we found in acharity shop for an absolute bargain. I'm really excited to get to it particularly because I really enjoyed the Coats winner from last year which was The Bombs That Brought Us Together by Brian Conaghan. This author has also written a bunch of other things, so if I really like this one then I'll endeavor to get my hands on more. B: My next pick is Mother Tongue byJulie May hew.
This has been on my owned TBR shelf for a ridiculously long time and I want to change that. I also have The Red Ink by Julie May hew so I definitely want to finish all of the books we own by her this year. Mother Tongue is particularly interesting for me because it's about a sister relationship and it's also under 300 pages which is always a plus.Next is Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch and I actually have the second book a swell, Ice Like Fire so owning that one has definitely inspired me to pick up this first book, especially since I got it ages and ages ago. It's been a while since I've read a book like this, a high fantasy with lots going on, and the blurbjust seems so confusing but, because it's been a while, hopefully it will be refreshing and potentially one of my favorite fantasy sociopolitical books. I'm also encouraged that the font isreally big in this so despite its size it's probably gonna be a quick read.
B: Finally for me I have Extraordinary Means by Robyn Schneider. This was one of Maddie's favorite books of 2015 so I think it's finally time I get to it.I also want to reread Robyn Schneider's first book, Severed Heads,Broken Hearts, so I think I'll do it back-to-back because I really loved her writing in that one so I have no idea why I've put off reading this. Probably because Maddie found it quite an emotional read so I definitely need tobe in the right mood for it but this is probably top of my list of priorities this year.
M: and finally I have Tiny Pretty Things by Sonia Chairapotra and Danielle Clayton. This is about three ballerinas and ballet is one of my favorite things ever. I love seeing it on TV and film and I'm really excited to get to read about it. If you've been around on this channel for about a year you'll realize that we had an obsession with Dance Academy so I'm hoping that this brings all of those vibes. There's also a sequel to this one so if I really love it then I binge it as, thankfully, I have both of them and I'm already anticipating that this might be one of my new favorite reads of the year.So, those are just a few of the books that we want to read in 2018. This year is a little bit trickier than last year because a lot of the ones I've chosen are attached to a series, so that's adding like a few more than just five. Hopefully, I'll be able to get round to them all.
